Helping Little Voices Grow

A warm, specialized approach for early language and speech sound development.

I started The Nook to focus on what I’m most passionate about- helping young children with early language delays and speech sound challenges. By specializing in this area, I’m able to provide high-quality, personalized care that supports each child’s unique journey.

If your child is having trouble communicating or pronouncing certain sounds, I’d love to help. Reach out by email or text, and let’s work together to build their confidence and communication skills!

Speech
Sound Disorders

Speech sound disorders happen when a child has trouble saying certain sounds clearly. This might look like swapping sounds, leaving them out, or saying them in a distorted way.

You might notice things like:

  • Saying “tootie” instead of “cookie”

  • A slushy “s” or unclear “sh” sounds

  • Trouble with sound combos like “sp,” “tr,” or “dr”

  • Being hard to understand, even to familiar listeners

A speech evaluation can help determine if therapy is needed. The earlier we start, the better chance your child has to improve their clarity and confidence!

CAS

Childhood Apraxia of Speech

Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor-based speech disorder where kids know what they want to say, but have trouble coordinating the movements needed to say the words clearly.

You might notice things like:

  • Very limited speech or hard-to-understand words

  • Difficulty putting sounds together, especially in longer words

  • Inconsistent speech errors or trouble copying words

Every child with CAS is different. A formal evaluation can help identify whether your child needs specialized support. With early diagnosis and the right approach, big progress is possible!

Early
Language Delay

An early language delay means your child’s understanding or use of language is developing more slowly than expected. This can affect how they answer questions or express their wants and needs.

You might notice things like:

  • A smaller vocabulary than other kids their age

  • Trouble understanding simple directions or questions

  • Getting frustrated when trying to communicate

Many kids with early language delays just need a little extra support to make big progress. An early evaluation can help your child get the tools they need to grow and thrive!
